Willow Oaks Country Club Richmond Wedding

Today we are sharing Delaney and Austin’s Willow Oaks Country Club Richmond wedding day that we just shot here in Richmond at Willow Oaks Country Club, with their ceremony at Stony Point Church.

What a day – it was absolutely beautiful. Delaney was such a dream, her family was wonderful, Austin is so easy going. We knew it was going to be such an easy day. We worked with some of our favorite vendors, wonderful couple, beautiful dress, we love Willow Oaks (they are always so great to us there). It was set up to be perfect.

And then Michael came inside as I was prepping bridesmaids to go outside for portraits and he said “it’s raining”.

But the thing is – it wasn’t supposed to rain!

The last time we were at Willow Oaks it was pouring all day long, so we were so pumped for a beautiful day. The morning was perfect. Then it started raining and it rained for the rest of the day.

Delaney and Austin didn’t do a first look. So when it started raining I had just finished with the guys and then they headed off to the ceremony location. So I said take the girls out now, it’s very light and drizzly.

We figured we’d get through the few portraits in the rain and then it would clear up and we’d have the rest of the day to work with, but it just kept raining.

It took the girls out for 1 minute and 1 second. I actually looked at the time stamp for the images. So all the girls portraits you see outside were taken in one minute and one second. Because we went back in the building.

I do think it’s worth stating that one minute was so worth it. It’s always tough. You don’t plan your wedding thinking it’s going to rain. You don’t dream of your perfect day with rain as part of it.

But Delaney had such a great attitude. She trusted us and went outside quickly even though it was raining. And now she has pictures forever with her best friends outside where she wanted them. So I just think it’s so worth it.

Literally everything else was a dream for this Willow Oaks Country Club Richmond wedding.

Stony Point church had a great overhang outside the church, so it was wonderful to be able to use that – then head back to Willow Oaks and shoot under their overhang so we got some variety, So wonderful that Delaney and Austin were so easy and flexible to pivot from their original plan. And their bridal party was just amazing the whole day.

Every time we shoot at Willow Oaks we take portraits inside anyways. The room is beautiful the light is gorgeous. And the colors and details fit Delaney’s style so well.

I think a lot of couples overlook the “plan b” when they are touring venues.. Thinking “am I still going to love this venue if it rains”. And I think with Willow Oaks it’s an easy yes.

Delaney is a musician, so I knew coming into this day that the music would be good. I was hyped for that. The strings for the ceremony were amazing. And then this band – Good Shot Judy – was absolutely amazing. They were so much fun and fit Delaney and Austin’s party so well.

Wonderful vendors, classic beautiful details. Such an amazing day. Enjoy a few of our many favorites from this Willow Oaks Country Club Richmond wedding.

Congrats you guys!

See more from Delaney and Austin!
