VMFA Winter Engagement

Today we are is sharing Callie and Joe’s VMFA Winter engagement session that we just did here in Richmond starting at the VMFA, going inside because it was very cold, and then finishing up at Can Can restaurant in Carytown.

It was actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I thought it was going to be the coldest winter day. And while it was quite chilly it wasn’t as terrible as I had initially imagine. I did have heat warmers in both shoes and both gloves, so that could’ve helped.

I brought hand warmers for everyone – I was nervous we were all going to completely freeze.

You should be comfortable during your session. There’s already a lot of nerves to work through when you are having your pictures taken, so we want you to be as comfortable and confident as possible. We want you to be able to enjoy your session. So we always give our couples the option to change the date if we are looking at bad weather of any kind – rain, snow, windy, cold, extreme heat, etc.

What did really help is that they dressed appropriately for their winter engagement session. They came in sweaters and coats for us to be able to take a few outside. Then they changed into a little bit more of a spring look, for us to take pictures inside of the VMFA and head over to Can Can.

Engagement session – date night

I love that they did this. In our engagement prep packet we always suggest that you go on a date night after your session. You’ve taken the taking the night off, gotten dressed up, and it’s so fun to be able to go just relax and celebrate with a night together. Please use this as a date night.

Callie and Joe decided to go to Can Can after their session – and we went with them to take few pictures before they had dinner.

I loved it. They made a reservation (by the window) and we took 10 minutes of photos before they enjoyed their date night. It added great variety, was personal to them, and created a few fun, casual photos.

If you are going to a brewery, or coffee shop. Out to get ice cream, or headed to a fun restaurant nearby, invite us to come along for a couple of minutes so that we can capture that.

Enjoy a few of our many favorites from this very cold, and very fun VMFA Winter engagement session.

Congrats you guys!
