Barns of Kanak Richmond Wedding

Barns of Kanak Richmond Wedding

Today we are sharing Erica and Paul’s Barns of Kanak Richmond wedding day. They just got married in the south side of Richmond at a venue called Barns of Kanak. It is one of our favorite venues because the people who work there are so spectacular. Especially Abby who has been the coordinator working with us each time we’re there and just goes above and beyond.

We also got to work with one of our favorite videographers, Brandon Mitchell, who is always such a pleasure to be around. So it really was a great day with some fabulous wedding vendors.

Erica & Paul – Barns of Kanak Richmond Wedding

We actually didn’t get a chance to shoot an engagement session with Erica and Paul before the wedding day because their engagement session had to be rescheduled so many times because of bad weather.  But their wedding day ended up being the most gorgeous weather day of the year.  It was quite windy, but perfect otherwise.

The Barns of Kanak have a gorgeous getting ready space with large window and beautiful decor. It’s a perfect, neutral, clean space to prepare for the wedding day.

Erica and Paul picked a different ceremony location than the Barns of Kanak usually use.  They choose to have their ceremony next to the house on the property and get married on the lawn surrounded by trees.

Ideas you should steal:

Sunset portraits

If you aren’t doing a first look (and even if you are) do sunset portraits. The best light is at sunset.  It’s always a little more casual and gives good variety.

Father Daughter first looks

Erica did a bridal portrait session with us before the wedding day, and she brought her dad along for a first look at that time. Then she also did another one with her dad on the wedding day. They are super close so it was nice to have him so involved. She also did the first look with her bridesmaids which I was always think it’s fun. And she did it first look with her siblings because she’s so close with her family.

Small bridal party

Having a big bridal party is always fun. But if you’re looking for a relaxing low-key day, starting your morning with just a couple of people in your getting ready room is always a good idea. Less people is less chaotic. Keep it intimate with just a couple friends is a good idea if you’re trying for a more calm day.

Enjoy of a few of our favorites from this wedding day.  Congrats you guys!
