Boathouse at Rocketts Landing Richmond Wedding

Today we are sharing Ann and Keston’s Boathouse at Rocketts Landing Richmond wedding that was shot this past weekend at First Baptist Church for their ceremony before heading over to their reception at the Boathouse.

This day was seamless. It started with Ann having all of her details completely ready for us to shoot. This is such a small thing but makes such a big difference in our timeline for photography. Especially on a wedding day. We request it, but it doesn’t always happen.

Everything was so on time for this wedding day. It helped that it was a smaller bridal party so it was really easy to get everyone together for a pajama picture and then again after she put her dress on. Keston and all of the guys showed up on time. It was just such an easy flow for the wedding day.

First Baptist Church

Also her mom volunteers at the church. She was able to show us around and put us in touch with the church coordinator. We were able to work which again made things so much easier.

Oh – and another thing that started the wedding day off right… When we arrived, Ann handed us a gift bag of snacks and water to give us some energy throughout the day. SO thoughtful.

This is actually the same church that Ann’s mom and sister got married – so they knew everyone and made the entire day feel very personal and family oriented.

First Baptist is a GORGEOUS church.  It takes up a full city block in Richmond and has a beautiful courtyard, and it’s right on Monument Avenue.  Also they have an amazing getting ready space that’s a house, right across the street, that was donated to the church.

The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing Richmond Wedding

Also, the Boathouse is a favorite of ours. The Rockett’s Landing location is such an awesome wedding venue.  And the sunset was incredible.  We actually stole them for a minute for a couple pictures on the balcony to take a few with Ann and Keston.

The Boathouse at Rockett’s Landing is such a fun venue because of that awesome balcony. And it’s right on the James River which makes it so beautiful.

Things you should steal from this wedding:

Food stations available throughout the night.

Rather than have a plated meal, or a buffet, there were food stations set up around the venue for the whole night.  It really encouraged people going around and mingling throughout the evening. And people could eat as they wanted (no need for late night snacks).

Legacy Cake Table

They had an amazing cake from Shyndigz, as well as two other cakes with a photo of each set of parents cutting the cake on their wedding day. It was a really fun detail and way to add in a legacy table.

Exchange gifts during the first look

This actually gave them a little more time to spend together on the wedding day.  They added in some time for their first look so that they could privately open gifts together and read their letters to each other.

This was especially helpful because the videographer already had them mic’d up for the first look, so they were already set to record the letters they were reading to each other.

It also just made for a nice, intimate moment together. This idea creates some intentional time to spend together on the wedding day before the rush of everything starts.

Love this and so much more from this wedding.

Congrats you guys!
