We have had a lot of really fantastic first looks. It’s one of our favorite parts of the wedding day because it is always so unique to the couple, and we really get to see how they are together. When couples walk down the aisle at the ceremony it is beautiful, and so special, but you don’t really get to see the personalities. At a first look we get to see the groom screaming.. or crying. The bride spinning to show off her wedding dress with an enormous grin and bold laughter.. or just a jaw drop and a long embrace.
But y’all.. this one may take the cake as all time greatest first look.
Julia emailed us. Her amazing coordinator, Rachel, emailed.. we chatted on the phone.. this first look was planned out. In detail. Julia was worried Chip might find out what was going on.. but ohhhh he had no idea.
You see, Chip is a huge Nationals fan so Julia arranged for one of the mascots to tap Chip on the back.. Sweet Chip thought he was turning around to see his bride, but instead it was an enormous head.. one of the Nat’s mascots. He was completely stunned.. and it was hysterical to watch. Julia snuck up around the giant head to see Chip, which was the most adorable thing to watch.. because he was obviously the most excited to see Julia.
Afterwards, we jumped into a limo and headed from their venue, the Decatur House, to the monuments. Because what D.C. wedding is complete without a trip to the monuments?! We headed to the Jefferson Memorial, hoping the crowds wouldn’t be too crazy.. on a GORGEOUS fall Saturday (hey, we can hope). It was tough, crazy windy, crowded, and in harsh sun.. but so stunning. This bridal party was built of some wonderful people, who dealt with our crazy directions with a smile. After our quick trip to the monuments we headed back to an amazing ceremony, an insanely gorgeous historic venue for cocktail hour, and finished the night off with a fabulous party as the reception.
Julia & Chip, congratulations! We were so honored to be there to celebrate with you two.. we hope you love a few of our many favorites..
