Matt & Erin | Married

We love a do-it-yourself wedding, and this couple took it to the extreme! They got married at their parents waterfront house, across the James River from Jamestown in Spring Grove, where Matt’s younger brother got married, and his dad’s band was the entertainment! Matt even welded the arbor… all of it! When we first arrived, family members were all around helping get the quaint and gorgeous ceremony space ready, Matt picked us up in a golf cart, from our parking space at the bottom of the hill where parking was, and Erin was even making signs on the front porch!

Seriously, these two have the most beautiful families, filled with so much love! Erin and Matt shared an intimate service, where everyone was tearing up, but noone more than Erin and Matt! (everyone knew how perfect these two are for each other). After the ceremony, we spent some time sharing with and photographing the family, most of which Laura had known since Matt and Laura have been friends since middle school! We then drove down to a pier, with all the bridal party and us piling in two cars. Erin was even sitting on the center console! We then stole them away for a few minutes of just them. And I don’t care how many times they tell us they are not photogenic. (You two are so incredibly STUNNING!) When we got back, Matt & Erin walked in to their reception, and all the waterworks started again during their first dance. Friends then shared in some delicious food truck grub that had been parked in their neighbors front lawn. (Their neighbors took over chauffeuring people to and from their cars in golf carts after Matt had picked us up… they even had shirts made!) Matt’s dad’s band then jumped on stage, and kicked off the rest of the night as the sun went down, and as more friends from down the street drove up in their own golf carts to watch the band play!

This wedding was exactly what we hope for all the weddings we photograph, with the emphasis on love and celebration! Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in all the other things with wedding days. But with this wedding, everyone’s focus was solely on celebrating the love Matt & Erin had for each other. You could see that in their families who were vendors at the wedding, their neighbors who were serving the guests, just happy to be a part of it, and their friends, who poured their love onto them. Matt & Erin, we are so so so excited for you two, and are so blessed that we got to share in all that love on your wedding day. We love you guys and congratulations!
