April & Michael | Married

Michael and I LOVE Duck, NC.  The Outer Banks is one of our favorite places to be.  We are so blessed that my parent’s have a house in Duck and we can visit all the time.  So when April contacted us and told us about her OBX Duck wedding, we squealed a little.  Ok maybe I was the only one squealing.  But still, we were pretty excited.  April was the perfect, laid back beach bride.  And this house mansion on the sound was A. MAZ. ING.  It has it’s own personal beach for a ceremony, a dock that stretched out into the water, just across the street to the ocean so we could escape for some portraits, and a gorgeous back patio for the reception.  It was all just too perfect.

This day was filled with SO much joy.  And even though EVERY wedding day is going to have it’s hiccups (like your flower girl jumping off the bed just moments before the ceremony and breaking her arm, or the officiant’s tablet struggling to load his ceremony notes right after you walk down the aisle), it’s important to remember that those little “flaws” are what makes your day so perfect, and so memorable.  April and Michael were exactly that couple.  They smiled through it all, and let nothing get in the way of having their perfect day.  And that translated into their images.  April and Michael told us again and again that they were not “picture people”.  They had never had portraits taken, and rarely get in front of a camera.  But they trusted us and let us guide them through portraits and once we started started shooting they were naturals!  That joy they had, totally translated into their images.  And April’s sweet laugh was just amazing.

Thanks for having us be a part of your big day.  We love y’all!

Oh my gosh! I just noticed the pictures of her jewelry on Meemaw’s shell lei! It’s like y’all have her a moment, just for her, even though she couldn’t be here with us. Thank you so much for that.
