When we think about a timeless Richmond wedding, Jackie and Reid’s celebration will forever immediately come to mind. Their wedding day combined historic Richmond charm, beautiful summer details, meaningful traditions, and one of our favorite wedding venues in the city: The Commonwealth Club.
From their ceremony at St. Bridget Catholic Church to an elegant reception in the historic ballroom at The Commonwealth Club, every part of the day felt thoughtfully planned and centered around celebrating with the people they love most.
As Richmond wedding photographers, we love seeing couples create a wedding day that reflects their priorities, and Jackie and Reid did exactly that.
Jackie and Reid exchanged vows at St. Bridget Catholic Church, one of Richmond’s beautiful Catholic churches known for its traditional architecture and meaningful wedding ceremonies.
Summer weddings in Virginia can be warm, and this day was no exception. However, one of the things we loved most about their timeline was how intentionally it was designed to keep everyone comfortable while still allowing plenty of time for photos and celebrating.
Following their ceremony, they greeted guests during a receiving line, a beautiful tradition. Receiving lines offer couples an opportunity to connect with their guests immediately after the ceremony and create a welcoming atmosphere before the celebration continues.
It’s such a simple tradition, but it’s one that allows couples to personally thank the people who traveled to celebrate with them.
One of our favorite parts of the day was getting to utilize all the beautiful spots at The Commonwealth Club for portraits.
Located in the heart of downtown Richmond, The Commonwealth Club offers a wonderful combination of historic architecture, elegant interiors, and charming outdoor spaces.
Jackie and Reid’s wedding party looked incredible. Reid and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos that never go out of style, while the bridesmaids wore beautiful blue dresses that perfectly complemented the floral design.
The combination of timeless attire and historic Richmond architecture created portraits that will feel just as classic decades from now as they do today.
One detail we absolutely loved was Jackie and Reid’s choice to use a Richmond wedding trolley for transportation.
Not only is a trolley a practical way to move a wedding party through downtown Richmond, but it also creates a fun experience for everyone involved. It becomes a rolling celebration between locations and offers opportunities for unique wedding photographs throughout the day.
The trolley gave everyone a chance to relax, spend time together, and enjoy the excitement of the day while traveling between venues.
For couples planning a Richmond wedding, wedding transportation is often viewed simply as a logistical necessity. But Jackie and Reid showed how it can become part of the overall wedding experience.
Walking into the reception space at The Commonwealth Club was unforgettable.
The venue itself is already stunning, with its historic ballroom and classic Richmond elegance. But the design team transformed the space into something truly extraordinary.
The floral design by Courtney Ingram was absolutely breathtaking. Every arrangement felt intentional and elevated, creating a romantic atmosphere throughout the ballroom.
The planning and design by Lauren and the team at Bliss Events Collective tied everything together beautifully. From the floral installations to the linens and tablescapes, every detail contributed to a cohesive and elegant guest experience.
One thing we often tell couples is that elements like linens and chairs can completely transform a reception space. Jackie and Reid understood that perfectly. Their design choices elevated the room while still allowing the historic beauty of The Commonwealth Club to shine.
More than anything, what stood out about Jackie and Reid’s wedding day was how focused they were on spending time with their family and friends.
Every decision seemed centered around creating meaningful moments with the people who matter most to them.
Because their timeline was thoughtfully planned, they were able to enjoy cocktail hour, mingle with guests, and truly experience their wedding day rather than feeling rushed from one event to the next.
It’s something we encourage all of our couples to consider when planning their wedding timeline. The more opportunities you create for genuine connection, the more memorable the day becomes.
Jackie and Reid’s wedding was the perfect combination of classic style, meaningful traditions, and joyful celebration.
From their ceremony at St. Bridget Catholic Church to portraits around downtown Richmond and an elegant reception at The Commonwealth Club, every part of the day reflected who they are as a couple.
