We wrapped up our final wedding of the year with one of our absolute favorites—Olivia and Tucker’s stunning fall VMFA Museum wedding in Richmond. It felt like the perfect finale to an already unforgettable season. Not only do we adore these two, but we’ve photographed both of Olivia’s sisters’ weddings in the past few years, so walking into this day felt a little like coming home.
Their entire family is warm, welcoming, and truly some of the kindest people. We loved getting to see Emma and Emily again—and finally meet their new babies. It was such a joy-filled start to the day.
We began at Olivia’s family home before heading over to the museum to meet Tucker for the first look. One of the best parts about VMFA weddings is how expansive the property is. There are so many beautiful spaces to work with, and it allows for an easy, seamless transition between moments of the day.
Even though it was a chilly fall afternoon in Richmond, it was honestly perfect for a November wedding. Olivia arrived at the museum, we walked her over to Tucker, and the two of them shared the sweetest first look and private vow exchange.
And her dress… truly one of our favorites of the entire year. It fit her effortlessly! Classic, elegant, and totally her style. The added neck bow was such a beautiful, unexpected detail. She also gifted Tucker a personalized handkerchief. It was especially fitting because neither of them expected to cry, and yet both definitely did!
After their first look, we explored some of our favorite spots of the VMFA for portraits. The fall light, the museum architecture, and their timeless style made everything feel classic and elegant… Totally fitting their vibe! The sculpture garden was pretty quiet, so we had a lot of spaces to work with, but it was pretty cold, so we needed to make sure we didn’t take too long.
Olivia’s bridesmaids wore a mix-and-match collection of rich purples… Such a bold color to pull off, but they absolutely nailed it. The whole aesthetic worked perfectly with the museum setting, especially since, after their ceremony finished, and the sun set, we moved into those gorgeous after-dark portraits inside the museum. This is where these two totally shined!
Their vibe fit the VMFA so well—elegant, modern, and artistic. Even their invitation suite reflected the museum theme, styled like an exhibition announcement, which we loved. Their signage even tricked a few museum attendees, thinking that a live exhibit was going to happen, when it was just their wedding ceremony!
From the beginning of the day to the very last moments of the reception, Olivia and Tucker were overflowing with joy. They are both some of the kindest people we’ve ever worked with… Thoughtful, genuine, and completely present with every person around. Watching the two of them celebrate with their families felt so special.
Ending our year with these two was such a gift. Their fall VMFA museum wedding was full of love, happy tears, beautiful details, and all the classic Richmond charm we adore.
Olivia & Tucker, congratulations! We are so grateful we could be the ones to capture your Fall VMFA Museum Wedding day. Enjoy a few of our many favorites!
We actually photographed their engagement session at the VMFA as well!
