Richmond Museum District Engagement

Jessica and Quint’s Richmond museum district engagement session took us to some of our all-time favorite places in Richmond: the Branch Museum, Monument Avenue, and especially the VMFA. If you’ve followed us for any amount of time, you know we’re at the VMFA constantly — for engagement sessions, for weddings, for our own photos… for everything. And honestly, there’s a reason.

The VMFA – Richmond Museum District Engagement

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is the perfect all-around Richmond location. The light is always beautiful, the architecture gives you clean and classic backgrounds, and it’s incredibly easy to get to. There are bathrooms (always a win), tons of variety within a short walk, and it’s close to so many other great spots if you want a second location. There’s a reason photographers flock there every single day.

But surprisingly, on the day of Jessica & Quint’s session, the usual courtyard crowd was quiet — probably thanks to the cold — though Quint made us laugh by pointing out everyone watching them from inside the café instead. These two were such troopers, braving the chill without skipping a beat. And honestly? They were adorable together from the very first frame.

Monument Avenue & The Branch Museum: Classic Richmond Charm

After wrapping up at the VMFA, Jessica and Quint changed into their second outfits — and we were obsessed. Her white sweater dress and boots paired perfectly with his layered vest-and-collar look. It was the ideal cozy, fall-forward styling for Monument Avenue.

The thing we love about Monument Avenue is the color. Richmond fall shows off here in the best way! Those warm neutrals, brick homes, and elegant porches create such timeless backdrops. If you’re shooting in the fall, outfits like theirs match beautifully without competing with all the natural color around you.

We also love incorporating the Branch Museum into Monument Avenue sessions. Its historic architecture adds another layer of texture and charm, giving you a completely different vibe just steps away from the residential streets. You get so much variety within minutes, and it all feels undeniably Richmond.

Looking Ahead to Their Hollyfield Manor Wedding

We’re already counting down the days until Jessica and Quint’s wedding at Hollyfield Manor — one of our absolute favorite Richmond venues. Jessica told us right away how obsessed she was with it, and we feel the exact same way. It’s such a meaningful, unexpectedly beautiful place for a celebration.

And fun twist: Jessica (the bride) shares her name with the Jessica who runs the venue, so we get to work with two truly wonderful Jessica’s on their wedding day. A win all around!

We can’t wait to celebrate these two again soon.
For now, enjoy a few of our favorite images from their sweet and stylish Richmond museum district engagement session.

Congratulations, you two!
