Today we’re sharing Hannah and Jameson’s Richmond engagement session at Byrd Park, and it might just be one of our all-time favorites.
This session was pure joy from start to finish. We met them at the Carillon on a beautiful fall afternoon, surrounded by golden leaves and soft light bouncing off the stone steps. Byrd Park is one of our favorite spots in Richmond for engagement photos. It’s easy to access, has so much variety, and feels peaceful even on busy days. From the Carillon on one side, to the ponds at the other end of Byrd Park, every corner offers something special… And Hannah and Jameson brought it all to life.
Within minutes of starting, we looked at each other and just laughed. These two were so natural together! They slipped into poses like they’d been doing this for years… All with genuine laughter, little glances, and the kind of connection you can’t fake. When we asked if they’d had photos taken before, they said only for family, which made it even more unbelievable.
At one point, we asked them to sit on the stairs, and without any direction, they just fell into this adorable moment, smiling at each other like no one else existed. The kind of chemistry that makes you think, “This is why we love what we do.”
There’s something about Hannah and Jameson that feels easy and joyful. We joked during their session that their friends must constantly talk about how cute they are. And Hannah just smiled and said, “Yeah, they do.” And honestly, we believe it.
They’re sweet and kind, but also up for anything, which makes for the best kind of engagement session. Whether we asked them to walk along the pond, sit on the edge of the water, or sneak in a few dips and lifts, they were all in.
Originally, Hannah and Jameson had thought about shooting at Maymont, but Garden Glow happens in the fall, and Maymont closes earlier in the evening. Byrd Park was the perfect alternative, and honestly, we’re so glad they made the switch.
We started at the Carillon, one of Richmond’s most iconic backdrops, and wandered around the building, which provides so much variety. They changed into a second outfit, and we went over to shields lake. It’s more central in Byrd park, but looks completely different, and where we spent the rest of their session.
We wrapped up just as the sun dipped below the trees, only because we had to. Honestly, we could have continued for a while with these two amazing people!
We cannot wait for their wedding day, but for now, enjoy a few of our many favorites from this beautiful fall engagement session at Byrd Park.
Congratulations, Hannah and Jameson! what a joy it was to capture your Richmond engagement!
Here’s another session we’ve done in the Maymont/Carillon area.
