Hey friends! Today we’re excited to share all about Evan & Conor’s absolutely perfect, joyful, temperature-controlled (yes, that’s a real win!), and stunning wedding at The Estate at Independence Golf Club, just west of Richmond.
When you hear “golf course wedding,” you might imagine a generic venue—but that couldn’t be further from the truth here. The Estate at Independence golf club is a hidden gem. From its beautiful rolling hills to the elegant building and truly amazing staff, this venue took our breath away.
We’ve been here before, but it had been a while. Coming back reminded us just how much we love it. The space is modern, stylish, and full of character—not at all what you’d expect from a typical country club. The girls getting ready space is bright and thoughtfully designed, with a gorgeous bridal suite with a balcony and private dressing area. The grooms had a room downstairs that was a little tight, but there were so many other spaces available to us to take them, including an amazing coffee shop lounge with a great vibe.
One of the biggest standouts from the day? The venue team. We can’t say enough good things about Casey and the entire staff at the Estate at Independence golf club. They weren’t just checking boxes—they were there for Evan, Conor, and every vendor involved.
Casey seemed to magically appear every time we had a question—like she could read our minds! Evan and Conor couldn’t stop talking about how supported they felt. And honestly, we couldn’t either. Then there was our favorite videographer, Cat, who is always a Joy to work with, (she’s also already gotten a sneak up!) and Carter, the DJ, who kept the party going.
Evan and Conor had a super sweet first look, where they read their vows privately to each other—and then an even sweeter second one… with their dog! He joined them in a little bowtie for a special moment full of tail wags and happy tears. It was adorable and so them!k
It’s always special when couples include their pets, and they pulled it off perfectly with the help of a friend who cared for their dog during the day. If you’ve ever wanted to include your dog in your wedding but weren’t sure how—it’s possible!
Evan and Conor made the most of their timeline by knocking out a ton of portraits before the ceremony. With everything running on time (thanks to an awesome vendor team and an on-it couple), we got to capture their family and bridal party photos early, leaving room for just-married moments right after the ceremony, and sunset portraits during their reception!
Honestly, if you’re planning your own Richmond wedding, this is one of our favorite ways to schedule portraits: three short chunks spread out through the day, instead of one long session. You’ll have more light variety, less burnout, and more time to actually enjoy your wedding.
Right after the ceremony, we had a quick 10-minute “just married” session with Evan and Conor—one of our favorite parts of the day. Then, we snuck out again right before sunset for those dreamy golden hour portraits. Evan ditched the bridal heels for Jack Rogers (we approve!) and Conor chauffeured us around in the golf cart—10/10 driving, by the way.
These two were so relaxed, so full of love, and just so much fun to be around. It made every moment feel easy and genuine.
The weather was perfect, and guests floated between the indoor and outdoor spaces, enjoying a relaxed, joyful evening. We even had guests watching our portrait session from a distance as the sun dipped low behind the trees. Just magic.
We wrapped up the night completely in love with Evan and Conor and this incredible day. It was a beautiful reminder of why we love what we do.
We love you guys so much. Thank you for letting us be part of your day. Your love, joy, and go-with-the-flow attitudes made this one of our favorite weddings yet.
