Today we’re sharing all about Will and Will’s incredible St. Stephen’s Richmond Spring Wedding, and honestly… I don’t think we’ll ever get over it.
First of all—The Wills?! Just the best. They had a sign at their after-party that said “The Wills” next to a picture of them, and I was obsessed. And then their cocktail napkins said W squared!
But beyond the adorable details, it really was such a breathtaking and unique day. From the moment they first told us their wedding plans, we were like—OK, buckle up!
So, Will Stanley works at St. Stephen’s Church, right here in Richmond. And for their wedding ceremony, they invited the entire congregation. And no, this is not a small, quaint neighborhood chapel—we’re talking a huge church with overflow rooms and hundreds upon hundreds of people.
It was beautiful.
I just kept thinking throughout the day how deeply these two are loved. Will and Will are the kind of people who make everyone feel like their best friend. You could see it in every hug, every conversation, every photo request—they just radiate kindness.
And the day really reflected that. Will Ferguson is an opera singer, and Will Stanley being on staff at the church meant they could create this absolutely epic ceremony—nearly two hours long—with music from friends, a beautiful sermon, and so many heartfelt moments. The officiant, who also works at the church, shared stories and inside jokes that had the entire room laughing.
It was so evident that these two are known and loved by their people.
Their wedding party was massive, and every photo combination felt like a reunion of lifelong best friends. They weren’t just going through a list—they were genuinely thrilled to see each person, and the energy was contagious.
And then… the spring rain. They had originally planned to host the reception outdoors around the beautiful grounds of the church, with tables, cotton candy and popcorn machines, games for the kids, and Bev’s ice cream (yes, Richmond classic!). But when the rain showed up, everything moved inside.
Huge shoutout to Melissa from The Hive—she made the pivot flawless.
Even with everyone crammed inside, it was a blast. Like—wall-to-wall joy. We took a video during the reception and tried to capture just how many people showed up, and it felt like we were walking through the church forever. People were everywhere, smiling and celebrating and just so happy to be there.
They even buried the bourbon beforehand (a Southern tradition to keep the rain away)… didn’t quite work this time. But they laughed it off, and that kind of summed up the whole vibe of the day—pure joy, no matter what.
After the ceremony and the church reception, they hosted an after-party at River City Roll. Friends performed (and, wow—one of their friends sang a song that blew everyone away!), everyone danced, and it just capped off a day that was already unforgettable.
One of my favorite moments? During the reception, the Wills stood up on a bench to give a toast—and talked about each other in the most heartfelt way. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. It was one of those moments that reminded you what a wedding day is really about.
It’s hard to put into words how special it all was.
But we’ll say this: a Richmond spring wedding at a beloved church, with two of the kindest, most joy-filled people we’ve ever met, surrounded by hundreds of friends who adore them—it was unforgettable.
