The Maine of Williamsburg Virginia Wedding

Today, we’re sharing Stephanie and Casey’s wedding at The Maine of Williamsburg in Virginia! This was our first time shooting at this semi-new venue, and we were completely blown away. Williamsburg has so many familiar spots but this one was new to us. As soon as you turn the corner of the drive and see The Maine of Williamsburg, it looks so elegant!

It’s absolutely stunning. The exterior is gorgeous, and it’s perfectly designed as a wedding venue. There’s a bright and open reception hall, a spacious lawn for cocktail hour with a stylish patio, and a versatile covered ceremony space. Whether you want a sunlit outdoor ceremony or a shaded, intimate setting, this venue offers the best of both worlds.

One of our favorite parts? The getting-ready suites! The Maine of Williamsburg provides spacious, well-lit rooms on either side of the venue, making it a dream to photograph. When we arrived, the wind was wild, so we initially set up outside for detail shots. However, it was quite windy, so when the invitation suite and a beautiful ribbon threatened to fly away, we moved inside. Thankfully, the venue’s large windows and bright, clean walls made shooting indoors just as beautiful.

A Dream Team at The Maine of Williamsburg

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the venue staff. Tracy, the main point of contact, was absolutely amazing—so attentive and kind. You could tell Stephanie and Casey adored her. A perfect example? During their private last dance before the grand exit, Tracy even joined in for a moment! That kind of connection with venue staff makes a wedding day flow seamlessly.

A Colorful, Joyful Wedding Day

Stephanie and Casey’s wedding was full of personal, colorful details. Jessica from Fleurish & Bloom provided the most incredible florals—including a bucket of extra blooms for detail shots (which we love). Stephanie chose bright, playful colors, including pink candlesticks at the reception, which tied in beautifully with the floral arrangements.

They also repurposed their ceremony flowers for a breathtaking reception setup, which added such a wow factor to the space. It’s always a great idea to make the most of your floral budget that way!

A Perfect First Look & Portraits – The Maine of Williamsburg Virginia Wedding

One thing to note about The Maine of Williamsburg is that while the grounds are open and beautiful, there’s limited shaded coverage. Since we always want first looks to feel natural—without harsh sunlight or squinting—we found a perfect little shaded area for Stephanie and Casey. Even within a small space, the portraits turned out gorgeous. The venue’s stone patio became our favorite backdrop. Whether standing on it or using it as a natural light reflector, it created such a dreamy aesthetic.

A Ceremony Full of Emotion

Their ceremony took place on the covered patio, creating an intimate and comfortable setting for their guests. One of the sweetest moments? The officiant—who was also the matron of honor’s husband—got so emotional while speaking. Even Casey’s mom checked in to see if Casey had teared up during the first look, but it turned out the officiant was the one who lost it! It was so touching.

A Fun & Interactive Cocktail Hour

One of the coolest things about this wedding? Stephanie and Casey brought in their own mini putt-putt course for cocktail hour! Each hole featured a fun trivia question about the couple, and guests loved testing their knowledge while playing. We’ve seen crossword puzzles and other games, but this was such a unique and interactive touch—especially with so many kids in attendance.

A Reception to Remember – Virginia Wedding

After a beautiful reception setup—complete with relocated florals—the night was full of dancing and fun. Right after dinner, we stole Stephanie and Casey away for some sunset portraits, and the lighting was perfect. We always aim to keep reception portraits short (about 10 minutes), but we could have stayed out there forever. The golden light and their energy were just magic!

And can we talk about their outfit change? They swapped into sneakers and immediately looked even more comfortable and ready to party. Stephanie also wore a matching jean jacket with her bridesmaids, which was such a fun touch.

They wrapped up the night with a bubble exit, ending their wedding at The Maine of Williamsburg in the most joyful way possible.

Stephanie & Casey, your wedding was an absolute dream, and we loved celebrating your Maine of Williamsburg Virginia Wedding!
