Downtown Richmond Canal Walk Engagement

Today we are sharing Heather and Manny’s Downtown Richmond Canal Walk engagement session where we started at Havana 59 and ended walking along the canal.

Havana 59

One of our favorite things about engagement sessions is when clients choose a location that’s special to them. We have so many amazing spots in Richmond, and we share a full guide to our clients with recommendations. But we always love it when a couple decide to include a spot that they love. And for Heather and Manny, that was Havana 59.

There are some great spots for photos that are tried and true, and we are obsessed with them. Maymont and the VMFA will always be beautiful. We did our own family portraits there! But, we are always up for a spot that’s not typical. And, it can be for just a few minutes too, it doesn’t need to be for the whole shoot.

Havana 59 was where Manny proposed, and it’s also where they had their first date with house Mojito’s (don’t worry, we got some for them to enjoy). They are also considering using it for their rehearsal dinner as well. We got to use their top floor open air space for a half hour and it was such a cool space to be able to use!

After Havana 59, we went to the Canal Walk where the boat tours run, for a few more shots in their formal outfit before having them change. Both outfits were stunning, and they just wore them so well. They told us that they were people that like to dress up, and you could tell. They rocked it.

We spent the rest of the session near the canal walk murals, and around the Casa del Barco industrial area. There is so much variety in such a small space, and we love it there.

Our engagement sessions are scheduled for about 2 hours, but we normally use only an hour and a half for photos, just because it is a long time to be in front of a camera. This is especially true in the summer months when it’s so hot. However, for these two, we used the full 2 hours, and maybe even went a little past that… sorry about that guys!

But even after those 2 plus hours, after we finished, Heather said that she couldn’t believe it was over already. Hearing that from our clients is so amazing. Our goal for engagement sessions is not only for you to get great photos of the two of you, but also to get to know us, and more importantly, to have fun. These two were just the sweetest, and we had so much fun!

Bonus tip, use the evening well, and go out for a date night afterwards. Heather and Manny did this too, and I bet you can guess where they went… Yep, Havana 59.

Enjoy some of our favorites from this Downtown Richmond Canal Walk engagement session!

Congrats you guys!
