Richmond and the rest of the world have had some huge changes in wedding photography this year as a result of COVID. So we have been able to shoot a lot more family sessions than usual!  Now, it’s looking a lot different than our normal family or newborn session (like this one), but we are loving it.  Mostly, we are traveling to homes.. which we almost always do for a newborn shoot anyways. But now we are staying outdoors.  Instead of coming into the home and taking pictures in the nursery and around the house, we are doing front porches and backyards so we can stay as hands off and safe as possible.  Kinda hoping a backyard newborn and family photography sessions will become the new trend! Since we are natural light photographers.. we are loving the extra sunlight in these sessions!

Backyard Newborn Session

For this sweet backyard newborn and family photography session we headed to the Bolt’s home in Midlothian and stayed in their backyard, and on their amazing back porch.  They have like a full living room set up out there.. and I immediately started shopping for outdoor furniture when we let! Ha! (you think Michael will let me buy this?)

Michael and I have had the honor and privilege of photographing this family throughout many different milestones.  We’ve taken family photos when their sweet girl was so small and with her baby cousin at Sunday Park.  Also pregnancy announcements and maternity sessions around Richmond. Now this newborn and family session at their Midlothian home.  It was so wonderful being able to be there for this moment.. even though things had to look a little different with all the craziness of the world today.
