Historic Post Office Winter Wedding

Kylie and Kenny asked us to be their photographers well over a year ago for their Historic Post Office Winter Wedding.  It seems like more and more couples are having long engagements. As a result couples are booking their vendors well in advance.  We shot this sweet couple’s engagement session in Williamsburg over a year before their wedding and just fell in love with them.  They are two teachers who are crazy about each other and about the nicest people in the world.

Fast forward a few months. Michael and I got the most wonderful news – we were pregnant with our first baby.. due just a week before Kylie & Kenny’s wedding date.  So while we were over the moon about the arrival of our little bundle of joy.. we were heartbroken that meant we might not be there for Kylie & Kenny’s wedding.  After talking with them about their options, and suggesting other photographers, they decided to risk us not being at their wedding, for the chance we might be.  Which was honestly one of the most flattering and terrifying things.

Our sweet baby, Niles, was born just before his due date.  Thankfully, Michael was able to make it to their wedding like we had planned. (YAY!) He brought along two other wonderful photographers – Emily Gibby & Susan Fowler.  In nine years of shooting weddings together, this was the first time one of us has not made it to a wedding.. or even a portrait session without the other!  So I sat at home (with one of my best friends who came to help this new momma out) and was glued to my phone getting updates from Michael.

The HPO – Historic Post Office Winter Wedding

This gorgeous Historic Post Office Winter Wedding was at an amazing venue in Hampton, Virginia.  The HPO is a super unique building in downtown Hampton.  It’s run by a fantastic coordinator – Kelsey who takes such great care of the couples who come through the venue.  It’s truly an old post office they converted into a really cool venue space.  And has a gorgeous bridal suite.  They got ready at their family homes in Virginia Beach.  Then, said their “I dos” at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk (with the most beautiful doors making for an insanely perfect first look spot – and portrait location). Finally, they headed to the HPO in Hampton for their reception/birthday party for Kylie’s little brother. (They paused the reception to sing happy birthday to him and he even got his own cake!).

We hope you enjoy some of our favorites.  We love you Kylie & Kenny.
